Statement of Need
I am Earl Jordan, President and founder of the Michigan Basketball Association of Flint. For the past twenty three years I have run a Free Life/Skills Summer Basketball Camp for area youths and will be doing so again this year.
This is not only a basketball camp but we also will teach Life Skills, Violence Prevention, team work and Leadership Skills in workshops run by area leaders. We also provide breakfast and lunch for the participants.
The camp will run this year from June 27 through July 1 and July 11 through July 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at New Standard Academy. The first week will be dedicated to 200 youth, ages 13-17 and the second week will also include 200 youth ages 9-12. Our mission is to provide basic basketball skills and quality life learning skills, in a safe environment with qualified individuals. We also invite any local sports figures who may wish to stop by and give these youth some words of encouragement to do so.
Unfortunately our budget is not adequate enough to cover the full amount of the camp’s expenses. In the past we have relied on a handful of agencies and individuals to help cover the cost.
This year we are turning to the community and our extended families to ask for support. If you could help us with a donation of any amount, it will be greatly appreciated and will help to cover the costs of expenses for the 2016 camp.
Your donation is tax deductible. Please make out checks to Michigan Basketball Association with “donation” on the memo line. Checks should be mailed to:
